CTEK was founded in 1997 and is based in Sweden.
Advanced knowledge about batteries is the cornerstone of CTEK's success. Safety, simplicity and flexibility are key words and requirements that apply to all the products and solutions developed by CTEK. They've sold more than three million chargers in 60 countries and on every continent. CTEK is a reliable supplier to many of the worlds most prestigious care and motorcycle manufacturers.
The CTEK warranty is between 2 and 5 years - depending on the model and the units themselves are IP44 or IP65.
CTEK chargers were the first to employ 'SMART' technology which uses 'Switched Mode' electronics making them more flexible and accurate than 'linear' transformers, this enables CTEK chargers to have dedicated cycles for different battery technologies and problems, and also allows them to be small yet powerful.
CTEK are particularly well suited for use in motorhome deep cycle charging systems because:
- They are a compact size but well made
- They have a 'power supply' mode which can be used safely when the motorhome is in storage or plugged into mains power for long periods of time
- They have a 'recondition' mode which can be used on flooded lead acid batteries to give them an equalise charge in order to improve battery capacity and extend battery life
- They come complete with a temperature sensor which when sited at batteries will allow for best possible charging in all temperature conditions
- They come with robust cables and alligator clips (though we generally permanently install them and connect to the battery via terminals which we replace the alligator clips with).
- They have a good charging regime, suitable for a large range of deep cycle batteries:
- Bulk Charging - 14.4V
- Float Charge - 13.6V
- Power Supply Mode - 13.6V
- Recondition Mode - 15.8V
